President Marcos hailed Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena for winning the first gold medal for the Philippines at the 19th Asian Games.

"Congratulations, EJ, on clinching our first gold in men's pole vault at the 19th Asian Games!" Marcos said on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday, Oct. 1.

The President also commended the country's taekwondo, wushu, and tennis athletes for their performance in the Asian Games being held in Hangzhou, China.
"Kudos as well to Patrick King Perez, Jones Inso, Gideon Padua, Clemente Tabugara Jr., Alex Eala, and Francis Casey Alcantara for their outstanding performances in Taekwondo, Wushu, and Tennis!" he said.
"Best of luck to all our athletes competing ahead!" the Chief Executive added.
