DHSUD: 20 housing projects now on different construction phases

At least 20 housing projects under the government’s “Pambansang Pabahay” program are in currently in various phases of development in construction across the country as part of the goal of addressing over 6.5 million backlog in housing for informal settler families (ISFs) and low-income earners, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said on Sunday, Oct. 1.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the development in the housing projects under the Marcos administration will be the highlight of this year's celebration of the National Shelter Month.

“Having decent yet affordable homes provides stability and security to a family. By having their own homes, they transform into productive members of the community,” said Acuzar.

The celebration will kick off with the launching of a housing exhibit at the DHSUD Central Office in Quezon City, in collaboration with partner-developers and key shelter agencies (KSA).

The DHSUD Regional Offices have also prepared activities happening for the whole month with the participation of KSAs and other stakeholders.

The DSSUD has partnered with various financial institutiomns and local government units (LGUs) across the country for the construction of affordable housing.

The Home Development Mutual Fund, or the Pag-IBIG Fund, has committed to allocate P250 billion to fund various housing projects Acuzar has been meeting with private institutions to invest on government housing.

Several lawmakers, on the other hand, are backing higher governemnt subsidy in the monthly amortization for all housing programs which focuses more on in-city and on-site housing construction.
