More than 16 million have participated in Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) registration as of Monday, Jan. 9, based on the records provided by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Department of Information and Technology (DICT) reported.

According to DICT, SIM Registration has been running smoothly, with a total of 16,150,926 registered. Smart Communications Inc. reported a total of 7,584,321 SIMs registered, while there are 7,137,764 SIMs registered for Globe Telecom Inc., and 1,428,841 for DITO Telecommunity Corp.
Globe Telecom Inc. also reported that its operations for SIM registration have yielded 99.69% success rate, with 7,173,255 cumulative successful registrations. Globe, along with the rest of the country’s PTEs, are continuously addressing user-related and system concerns to secure a seamless and convenient registration experience for the end-users.
DICT Spokesperson and Undersecretary Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo said that the public telecommunications entities (PTEs) are continuously improving the process to ensure a smooth registration experience for end-users.
The DICT also encouraged the public to register early and avoid last-minute registrations. Filipinos are also reminded to be vigilant as they complete the registration process.
“We encourage all SIM subscribers who have not yet registered their SIMs to register already with their PTEs to ensure that their SIMs won’t be deactivated. If there are glitches or technical issues during registration, please report these through hotline 1326. We also remind everyone to register only through the official platforms provided by the PTEs,” said Lamentillo.
