LTO suspends driving school in Palawan due to accreditation infractions
A driving school in Palawan has been slapped with a 30-day suspension for allegedly committing violations in its accreditation, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Monday, Jan. 9.
LTO Mimaropa Acting Regional Director Manuel Betaizar said the driving school, the name of which was not revealed pending the result of an investigation, was the subject of numerous complaints due to alleged irregularities in the use of their accreditation.
He said the driving school was reported to have conducted Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) and Driving Enhancement Program (DEP) outside the allowed premises by the LTO.
Betaizar said the driving school could face even harsher sanctions if found it violated Article VII Section 16.c.7 (prohibitions for driving institutions) of the LTO Memorandum Circular 2021-2284.
Meanwhile, LTO Chief, Asst. Sec. Jose Arturo Tugade reminded accredited driving institutions to be cautious in conducting driver training courses.
He emphasized the need for the driving institutions to teach their clients properly.
“Ang mabuting pagmamaneho ay nagsisimula sa driving schools dahil kung mali ang kanilang sistema ng pagtuturo, magdudulot lang din ito ng mga road crash sa lansangan, bagay na hindi natin pinapayagan sa LTO (Correct driving starts in driving schools because if they teach wrong principles in their system, it might lead to road crash in the streets which we don’t allow at LTO),” Tugade said.
