Completed Zamboanga del Sur project boosts farmers access to local markets- DPWH

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Saturday, Jan 7, said the completion of the local road Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur has provided better access for the farmers to transport their goods.
In a statement, DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia noted that his office is gearing up for the completion of more vital road projects in a bid to improve infrastructures and bolster the trade and industry in Mindanao.
He reported that the 2.3-kilometer Bag-ong Oroquita-Kabuhi-Magsaysay-Katipunan NRJ Esperanza Road is now being utilized by the locals, especially farmers, in transporting products and accessing social services.
Funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the P46 million project involved the concreting of the said road as well as drainage improvement and slope protection works that protects the motorists, especially during the heavy rains.
“We are targeting to deliver more road projects in Zamboanga del Sur next year to support the local government’s initiative of boosting economic growth and promoting local tourism,” Dia continued. (Chito A. Chavez)
