Cebu City-based foundation holds charity drive in Ilocos Norte

CEBU CITY – Reaching out to the needy continues for a Cebu City-based foundation.

The Semi Di Speranza Foundation Inc. (SDSFI) kicked off its two-day humanitarian mission in Vintar, Ilocos Norte on Saturday, Jan. 7.

SDSFI provided free eye check-up and distributed free wheelchairs to thousands of residents in its first mega humanitarian event this year.

The charity drive at the Municipal Public Auditorium of Vintar will be until Sunday, Jan. 8.

At least 20,000 residents or 7,000 households were expected to benefit from the two-day event.

Representatives from the SDSFI and members of the foundation’s partner-organizations distributed 100 wheelchairs to Persons with Disabilities, 2,000 sacks of five-kilo rice, five smart TVs, and 35 smartphones for impoverished students.

They also raffled off an e-bike and a siomai or steamed Chinese dumpling franchise worth P15,000.

SDSFI founder Chili Tita Cabatingan thanked the people of Vintar led by Mayor Richard Degala for welcoming them.

Cabatingan also thanked Francis Leo Marcos, founder of the Filipino Family Club International Inc. (FFCI), for continuing to support the SDSFI’s charity missions.

“We would like to thank FLM for his unwavering support and also to the members of FFCI for their unmatched generosity for the underprivileged Filipinos,” Cabatingan said.

The SDSFI based in Barangay Labangon here has held five humanitarians missions overall. Previous charity drives were conducted in Sorsogon, Negros Oriental, Benguet, and the Metro Manila District Jail in Taguig City.

“SDSFI is looking forward to more philanthropic projects in other regions of the Philippines. The foundation’s goal is to build programs that will create self-reliant, self-sufficient, and more productive Filipinos by providing access to free healthcare, livelihood, and education,” Cabatingan said.
