The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) concluded its free shuttle ride program on Friday, Jan. 6, after more than two weeks of augmenting public transportation amid the holiday season.

In a statement, the PCG said more than 5,400 individuals have benefitted from the program which started on Dec. 20.
“The program was implemented to assist the public who need to travel everyday so they can get to their work or classes,” the PCG said.
The PCG deployed two buses for the said program.
The PCG buses travel from the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to Monumento in Caloocan City, and vice versa.
The program usually starts from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. or, at times, until 4 a.m. of the following day to accommodate the influx of passengers.
Traffic and the lack of available vehicles during the holiday rush remained as among the biggest challenges for the national government even as it vowed to address the issue by offering better public transportation options.
