Nagcarlan, Laguna heightens monitoring of travelers from China amid XBB.1.5 threat
LAGUNA – The local government unit (LGU) of Nagcarlan is heightening its border control and health monitoring protocols amid the threat of the Covid-19 Omicron subvariant XBB.1.5.
Memorandum Circular No. 1, Series of 2023, signed by Mayor Elmor Vitangcol Vita on Jan. 4, showed that the LGU will intensify the surveillance of individuals who traveled from or passed through China.
As per the recommendation of the Municipal Health Office, individuals with recent travel history to China will be asked to coordinate with the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team and undergo rapid antigen or RT-PCR tests to be reported to the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
Travelers from China will also be advised to undergo a seven-day home quarantine and health monitoring upon arrival in the municipality.
Heightened border controls will be implemented in all points of entry to Nagcarlan.
On Jan. 3, the Department of Health said the more contagious Omicron subvariant has yet to be detected in the Philippines.
