Muntinlupa's Biazon signs MMDA resolution on courtesy resignation of PNP officials
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon signed the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) resolution supporting the move by Interior and Local Government Sec. Benjamin Abalos Jr. calling for the courtesy resignation of all colonels and generals of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Biazon said his signing of the resolution does not mean criticism or judgment of any police officer but as support to Abalos in his exercise of authority over the PNP.

“The SILG being the Head of the Department which has administrative control and operational supervision of the PNP, I leave the matter of disciplining or prosecuting the police to his discretion and judgment,” he said.
He added, “I signed the resolution to support his exercise of authority over the police. It is not a judgment or criticism of any of the police officers since I am not privy to the information pertaining to their involvement in illegal drugs.”
Mayors under the Metro Manila Council (MMC) signed the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Resolution 23-01 in support of Abalos’ action.
“Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin C. Abalos, Jr. appealed for the courtesy resignation of all colonels and generals of the Philippine National Police (PNP) amid fears that some high-ranking police officers are involved in the illegal drug trade,” according to the resolution.
It added that “the Metro Manila Council supports the appeal of Secretary Abalos which is aimed at cleansing the ranks of the PNP of errant police officers.”
The resolution stated that “all PNP colonels and generals, as a manifestation of their professionalism and patriotism, must immediately tender their courtesy resignation in order to preserve and protect the credibility of the police organization and remove any and all doubts on its public reputation and stature.”
