More than P1-B worth of illegal drugs seized, 504 drug pushers busted in Cordillera in 2022
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -- A total of P1,135,659,268.85 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated including those uprooted and burned during marijuana eradication operations, while 504 drug personalities were arrested in Cordillera from January to December 2022.
Regional director Brig. Geneneral Mafelino Bazar said that based on the records of the Regional Operations Division (ROD), from January 1 to December 31, 2022, the PROCOR operatives had conducted a total of 620 anti-illegal drugs operations, including buy-bust, marijuana eradication, police response, implementation of search warrants, service of warrants of arrest, checkpoints, and interdiction operations.
The operations had resulted in the arrest of 504 drug personalities, with Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) having the most number of arrests with 250.
This was followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) with 111 arrests, Kalinga PPO with 82 arrests, Abra PPO with 36, Apayao PPO with 14 arrests, Mountain Province PPO with seven arrests and Ifugao PPO with four arrests.
Bazar said as the result of the continuous marijuana eradication operations, a total of 4,004,024 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants (FGMP) and 1,618,375.76 grams of dried marijuana plants were uprooted and burned in the provinces of Benguet, Kalinga, Ifugao, and Mountain Province.
Apart from the operational accomplishments, with the continuous community engagement of PROCOR cops, 20 Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) were encouraged to voluntarily surrender and to undergo the Community-Based Recovery and Wellness Program (RWP).
