CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Brig. General Mafelino Bazar, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, and 17 other police officers tendered their courtesy resignations on Friday, Jan. 6, in support of Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ C. Abalos, Jr’s internal cleansing of the Philippine National Police.
"I support and accept the challenge to render a courtesy resignation,” said Brig. Gen. Bazar.
“With all of the 3rd level officers of PROCOR (2 Police Brigadier Generals and 16 Police Colonels), we discussed to unanimously tender our courtesy resignation and submit the resignation letter addressed to the President," added Bazar.
Bazar said the courtesy resignation was also in response to the call of PNP Chief General Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. to cleanse the ranks of the PNP organization.
Bazar at the same time called on his staff to continue serving the people despite their resignation.
“We are still your official who will guide you and together we will maintain Cordillera's home of disciplined cops and continue to fight against illegal drugs," said Bazar.
The PNP has lately been into controversy allegedly because of the return of the so-called ‘ninja’ cops in the organization.
