The number of fireworks-related injuries (FWRIs) has already increased to 307, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
The figure includes the 16 new cases that were recorded. The total tally is "62 percent higher compared to 2021 (189 cases) but three percent lower compared to the five-year average (317 cases) during the same period last year," the DOH said.
Metro Manila remained at the top spot with the most number of fireworks-related injuries with 139 cases.
It was followed by Western Visayas with 37 cases, Ilocos Region with 33, Central Luzon with 24, and Calabarzon with 18.
The most common cause of injury were kwitis, boga, five-star and fountain, the DOH said.
The total number of injuries because of a stray bullet remains at one, which is a case in Metro Manila.
However, the DOH is currently checking two unverified cases of injuries due to stray bullets. These supposed cases involved a 14-year-old boy from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim and a 27-year-old woman from Calabazon.
There are no reported deaths among the cases. Also, there remains no case of fireworks ingestion, the DOH said.
