CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera backed the call of Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. for all police generals and colonels to submit their courtesy resignations to cleanse their ranks of those involved in illegal drugs.
‘’We support and we accept the challenge to tender a courtesy resignation,’’ Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, Police Regional Office-Cordillera director, said on Friday, Jan. 6.
Bazar said third-level officers of the PRO-Cordillera discussed and unanimously accepted the challenge to submit a courtesy resignation on Friday in a recent conference.
"Actually, the draft of our courtesy resignation letter addressed to the President is being done," said Bazar.
Bazar said 18 high-ranking PRO-Cordillera officers will hand in their courtesy resignations – two brigadier generals and 16 colonels.
The PRO-Cordillera welcomed the appointment of retired police general now Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong as a member of the Committee of Five.
The panel was created to conduct the thorough evaluation and assessment of over 950 PNP colonels and generals who are expected to submit courtesy resignations.
‘’It's good if Mayor Benjamin Magalong is with us to evaluate and assess us. We know his background and character as a former PNP," Bazar said.
He said the courtesy resignations have no impact on peace order in the region because they still have to evaluate them and the status quo of their positions.
"The only thing we can be proud of here is that the Cordillera can be labeled the Home of Disciplined Cops and if there is only a very small amount of illegal drugs and marijuana plantation issues, we always take action."
