Classes in Malolos, other municipalities in Bulacan suspended due to inclement weather
Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando suspended classes in all levels for both private and public schools in the City of Malolos and in the municipalities of Norzagaray, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Balagtas, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulakan, Baliuag, and San Ildefonso on Friday, Jan.6, due to inclement weather brought about by the Low Pressure Areas (LPAs), northeast monsoon, shear line, and the rainfall warning issued by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The governor also cancelled classes in elementary and high school (both public and private) in the municipalities of Sta Maria and Marilao.
Liz Mungcal of the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) warned Bulakenyos that the release of water from the Angat Dam spillway will increase rapidly due to the continuous inflows to the reservoir.
Mungcal reported that as of 9 a.m. on Friday, the water level of Angat Dam is at 216.02 meters; Ipo Dam at 101.51 meters, and Bustos Dam at 16.86 meters.
She advised the public to stay away from Angat River due to the high-risk of flood.
Based on the report released by the PDRRMO on the same day, gates 1,2, and 3 of Angat Dam were opened and released excess water of 1.5 meters, 2.0 meters, and 2.0 meters respectively with a total discharge of 803 centimeters of water per second.
The Ipo Dam also discharged a total of 109.77 centimeters of water per second while rubber gate number 3 of Bustos Dam opened, deflated, and released a total water of 387 centimeters per second.
The PDRRMO warned the residents of Calumpit, Hagonoy, and Paombong that the water discharged from the three dams will flow directly to the low-lying coastal towns in the province of Bulacan.
