House panel sets briefing on NAIA New Year crisis on Jan 10
The Committee on Transportation in the House of Representatives will conduct an briefing on the disastrous New Year power outage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) next week.

This was confirmed by panel chairman, Antipolo 2nd district Rep. Romeo Acop in an interview Thursday, Jan. 5.
He said officials of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) were among those invited to the briefing scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
Acop said the transportation and aviation officials were invited "to brief us on the issue and give us their initial investigation report". He said the meeting will be done is a mixed virtual and physical set-up.
Acop clarified that the meeting was not a full-blown legislative inquiry since that would involve certain protocols. The House is on holiday recess until Jan. 23.
But the veteran solon said he has already filed a resolution calling for a proper investigation on Jan. 1 NAIA power outage, which affected over 65,000 passengers across 300 flights.
"Ang kailangan malaman ay iyong katotohanan (What we need to find out is the truth)," Acop said.

San Jose del Monte City lone district Rep. Florida "Rida" Robes, in a separate interview with House reporters Thursday, said that she expect the aviation officials to air their side of the story during next week's briefing.
"Para malaman talaga natin kung ano yung mga nangyari, para hindi haka-haka (This is to find out what truly happened, no more speculations)," she said.
Robes is a member of the transportation panel. She chairs the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, which has also expressed its intention to carry out an inquiry on the embarrassing technical glitch in a separate resolution.
