Hot meals, psychological first aid given by PH Red Cross to children affected by Navotas fire
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) provided hot meals and psychological first aid (PFA) to children affected by the fire in Navotas City on New Year’s Eve.

Volunteers from PRC went back to Barangay NBBN in Navotas City to serve hot meals and provide PFA to 338 children who were affected by the incident.
Aside from hot meals, trained PRC personnel also facilitated child-friendly activities designed as psychological first aid to address the distress experienced by the children after the crisis event.
Likewise, the PRC facilitated a health promotion and handwashing lecture demonstration. A first aid station set up in the evacuation center catered to five persons who had their blood pressure taken and to four who were treated for minor injuries.

A PRC firetruck and two ambulance units earlier responded to the families affected by the huge fire, which broke out in Market 3 at 2:24 pm on Dec. 31, 2022.
The PRC mobilized a total of 17 personnel from its Emergency Response Unit, Emergency Medical Services, Welfare Services, and Heath Services for the response. The fire damaged 98 houses, affecting 227 families, or 945 individuals.
PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard J. Gordon said that assisting the affected individuals does not end with the response of its firefighters and emergency medical services team.
“Nagpapadala rin tayo ng food trucks at trained personnel para maghain ng mainit na pagkain at magbigay ng psychological first aid sa mga naapektuhan ng isang krisis ito ang kanilang mga pangunahing pangangailangan (We also send food trucks and trained personnel to serve hot meals and provide psychological first aid to those affected by a crisis these are their basic needs,” he added.
