
Fourteen more fireworks-related injuries were recorded, raising the total tally to 291, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday, Jan. 5.
"These were 55 percent higher compared to 2021 (186 cases) but eight percent lower compared to the five-year average (313 cases) during the same time period," the DOH said in its latest update.
No death was reported among these cases, the DOH said. There was also no reported case of fireworks ingestion. The total number of stray bullet injuries remains at one.
The top five regions with the most number of injuries were Metro Manila with 135 cases.
It was followed by Western Visayas with 33, Ilocos Region with 29, Central Luzon with 24, and Calabarzon with 15.
The firecrackers that caused the injuries were kwitis, boga, five-star, and fountain.
