Two injured as flammable products inside motor shop in La Union explode

SUDIPEN, La Union – A welder accidentally hit two flammable products with his live welding machine tip, causing sudden explosion inside KARRJ Motor Parts and Marketing and injury to two employees on Tuesday, Jan. 3, in ANHW Barangay Poblacion here.

The La Union Philippine National Police identified the injured as Danilo Ortiz, 47, and Sanny Galduen, 48, both residents of Brgy. Namaltugan, Sudipen.

Initial investigation revealed that Galduen was refurbishing a steel cabinet using a welding machine, the flame of which accidentally reached flammable products, including paints, near his work place.

As a result, the products exploded inside the establishment, causing injuries to him (Galduen) and Ortiz.

First aid was conducted before the victims were rushed to the hospital.

The Bureau of Fire Protection assisted by Philippine National Police immediately responded to contain the spread of fire which was declared out at 10:50 a.m.
