Papal Nuncio, Cardinal Advincula to lead requiem mass for Pope Benedict XVI
Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles John Brown and Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula will lead the requiem mass for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI who passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 95.

The holy mass for the late Pontiff will be held at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Manila Cathedral) in Intramuros, Manila on Friday, Jan. 6, at 5 p.m.
In a circular, the Manila archdiocese enjoins members of the clergy and religious groups to join in the celebration of the requiem mass to pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
The circular, which was signed by Fr. Carmelo Arada, Jr., vice chancellor of the Archdiocese of Manila, included a prayer for the eternal rest of the late head of the Roman Catholic Church.
The prayer is as follows:
“O God, faithful rewarder of souls, grant that your departed servant BENEDICT, who governed your church with love, may happily enjoy forever in your presence in heaven the mysteries of your grace and compassion, which he faithfully ministered on earth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.”
Pope Francis will lead the funeral and burial ceremonies for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 9 a.m. (Rome time) at St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. He will be interred at the Vatican Crypt which is directly below the Basilica of St. Peter.
