NCRPO assures 100% compliance on courtesy resignation call

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has assured 100 percent compliance on the request of Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos for all of the full colonels and generals to submit courtesy resignation amid the ongoing investigation on the resurgence of "ninja cops" in the police organization.

NCRPO director Police Maj. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said he had already discussed the matter with the senior police officers assigned in Metro Manila and all of them have agreed to submit courtesy resignation.

"We will not force them to do so but on my part a the NCRPO director, I will support the call of the SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Government). So if they also sign (file courtesy resignation) then that means they support me," said Estomo in a press briefing on Wednesday night, Jan. 4.

"But right now, all my men, 100 percent, will sign," he added.

Estomo said that he supports the internal cleansing in the PNP and declared that he believed in the good intention of Abalos.

As the highest ranking official of the NCRPO, Estomo declared that he is not involved in any illegal drugs activities and that is the reason why he would submit a courtesy resignation.

He said he trusts the decision of Abalos and chief PNP Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. and the five people who will compose the Committee of Five which will conduct a vetting process on all senior officers of the PNP which numbering to more or less 300 officers.
