
CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – Mayor Eric D. Singson married a couple in a hospital after the woman gave birth on the day of a mass wedding here in December.
Clarissa Carpio and husband Michael Tiu were wed at the City of Candon Hospital by Mayor Eric D. Singson on Dec. 29, a day after the Dec. 28 free mass wedding of 50 couples spearheaded by the city government dubbed the “Gift of Marriage Program” (GMP).
They thanked Singson for solemnizing their marriage.
The 50 newly-wed couples received a P5,000 cash gift, token, and wedding rings from the city government which institutionalized the GMP under Resolution No. 1049, Series of 2022, to ensure and protect the sanctity and security of marriage.
The city government also sponsored the processing of marriage documents, reception, sound system, flowers and other decorations, and cakes.
Singson was one of the principal sponsors of the mass wedding with Vice Mayor Kristelle Singson and city officials.
