Important for PBBM to highlight Maharlika fund in WEF--Sandro

Thus, said Senior Deputy Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos, who is one of the main authors of the proposed Philippine sovereign wealth fund.

"What is good is that the President will be going to the on the 28th of January in Davos," Rep. Marcos told reporters during a press briefing Tuesday, Jan. 3 in his district office.

"Yan po ay ang pinakamalaking conference na pwede mong puntahan sa buong mundo...you name it, yan talaga ang pinakamabigat na pwede mong puntahan in terms of state-slash-business conference (That’s the largest conference that you can attend anywhere in the world...you name it, that's the most important that you can go to in terms of state-slash-business conference)," he noted.

"So malaking bagay po yan na pwedeng sabihin ng ating Pangulo na ipinasa na sa Kongreso ang para makakuha ng investments galing sa WEF (So it's a big deal for the President to be able to say that Congress has passed the MIF and in turn attract investments coming from WEF)," Rep. Marcos said.

"At least there is a palpable development that can be outlined by our President. That’s very important," underscored the presidential son.

At any rate, Rep. Marcos the development in the MIF measure isn't "concrete" yet since it still has to go through the Senate.

"I'm sure given that how learned and wise our senators are, makikita naman nila yung mga benepisyo at anong magagawa ng MIF para sa pag-unlad ng ating bayan (they will be able to see the benefits of the MIF and what it can do to achieve progress for the country)," the neophyte congressman said.

The House of Representatives approved the MiF on third and final reading last Dec. 15, just before Congress began its five-week holiday break.
