Help from the sky: Solon sends relief goods to Misamis Occidental via choppers
Noting that time is of the essence especially during disasters, Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep. Arnie Teves used helicopters in sending relief goods to families affected by the recent floods and landslides in Misamis Occidenta

“Several bridges were destroyed by floods and landslides also cut off land transportation stranding hundreds if not thousands of people. The victims needed our immediate assistance,” Teves said in statement.
In all, the former deputy speaker tapped the services of three helicopters, which significantly cost more than conventional transportation. “We need to save lives and must act quick," noted Teves.
The helicopters, carrying prepared meals, rice, and clothes flew to Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental.
The province had been placed under a state of calamity following the Christmas day floods, which was triggered by the shear line. At least seven individuals perished from the severe weather conditions.
The huge volume of floodwater destroyed several bridges, while rivers overflowed to low-lying areas. Rice fields were inundated while farm animals drowned.
Hundreds of passengers and motorists were stranded as the heavy rains caused landslides on major roads and highways.
Provincial officials of Misamis Occidental have asked for immediate assistance, especially food items, for their constituents.
