Classes, work in gov't in Eastern Visayas suspended due to bad weather
TACLOBAN CITY -- Work in government, except those engaged in health and emergency services, and classes were suspended here and in some municipalities in Eastern Visayas due to flooding and heavy downpour caused by a low-pressure area on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Work and classes were suspended in Palo, Tanauan, San Miguel, and Carigara in Leyte.
In La Paz town, classes were cancelled due to the Orange Rainfall Warning issued in Leyte by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The municipality is at risk from flooding and landslides due to heavy rains.
Classes on all level levels were cancelled in Abuyog, Tabontabon, Jaro, Babatngon, Barugo, and Tunga in Leyte.
Basey, Samar, Balangiga, Eastern Samar and Giporlos, Eastern Samar have also suspended classes and work in government offices.
