9 firecracker injuries recorded in Zamboanga Peninsula

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police logged nine firecracker-related injuries during the New Year’s revelry in Region 9 or the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The Police Regional Office-9 said one was reported in Zamboanga del Norte, three in Zamboanga del Sur, three in Zamboanga Sibugay, and two in Zamboanga City.

No such incident was recorded in Isabela City, Basilan.

Police said there were no casualties from stray bullets compared to one in 2021.

PRO-9 director Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsangan said the low number of firecracker-related incidents was due to the intensified Enhanced Managing Police Operation against loose firearms.
