Paolo Contis confirms romance with Yen Santos, shares reasons for failed relationship with LJ Reyes

More than a year after his publicized breakup with long-time partner actress LJ Reyes, actor Paolo Contis finally broke his silence on the real score about his love life.

In an interview with Boy Abunda on Jan. 30, the Kapuso star shared that before his split with LJ, they haven't been okay for a long time. Despite this, they were still together.

"Napapadalas yung away," he related.

Paolo said the combination of stress related to the pandemic and other things also contributed to the break-up.

Then added: "One of my biggest mistakes was, hindi ko inalala ang mental health ni LJ. Isa ‘yon sa feeling ko naging simula ng downfall namin. Na hindi ko inisip yun.

"Kapag nahihirapan siya during pandemic, ang utak ko: 'Four times a day tayo kumain, chill ka dyan.' Which was one of my biggest mistakes.

“Plus, again, ‘yung pagdidiskarte ko ng sarili ko na hindi ko na ini-inform sa kanya yung mga bagay-bagay, which led to bigger to problems.

"I won’t divulge na doon sa issue na ‘yun. Pero eventually it piles up."

He thinks poor communication also added.

"Hindi kami nag-uusap ng maayos. Plus, ‘yun na nga, everytime ako'y nakakalabas ng bahay dahil pandemic - may work - may mga kalokohan din akong ginagawa.”

But he reiterated that Yen Santos wasn't a third party to their relationship.

According to him, he and LJ were no longer together when his Baguio trip with Yen made headlines.

“Noong nag-Baguio kami ni Yen, nasa states na sina LJ noon. Nagmukhang baliktad, because your interview with LJ came out, pero wala na kami sa Baguio noon. So, feeling ng tao, habang iniinterview si LJ, nasa Baguio ako. Pero when you were interviewing LJ, mga at least 10 days na silang nasa States. I left for Baguio, nasa states na sila,” he explained.

Paolo finally confirmed his romance with Yen.

“Sa amin kasi (ni Yen), what you see is what you get. Hindi namin puwedeng ipilit ang mga tao to be happy for us. Hindi namin puwedeng ipilit ang mga tao na paniwalaan ang mga gusto nilang paniwaalan. Sana isipin nila na kung ano ang nakikita nilang post, ‘yun lang ang truth na alam nila.”
