Intel cop shot in Batangas

A police intelligence officer was shot in Barangay Antipolo del Sur in Lipa City, Batangas, on Sunday night, Jan. 29.

Police said the victim had the rank of master sergeant and assigned to the intelligence section of the Lipa City Police Station.

Investigation said the victim stopped by the roadside onboard his motorcycle around 8 p.m. when the suspect, Ariel Bathan, alias “Pusa,” a resident of Barangay Antipolo del Sur, drew a firearm and shot Magundayao.

Magundayao was wounded in the legs but he managed to retaliate as the suspect sped off on a motorcycle. The victim was taken to a hospital.

Police are conducting a follow-up operation for the apprehension of the suspect.

Meanwhile, a 54-year-old security personnel was shot dead by a lone gunman while walking on his way home on Monday, Jan. 30, in Barangay San Antonio, San Pascual, Batangas.

The fatality was identified as Inocencio Ilagan, a resident of Barangay San Antonio.
