ILOILO CITY – Fewer major criminal incidents in Western Visayas region were recorded in 2022.
Data from Police Regional Office (PRO-6) showed that a total of 2,783 incidents of the eight focus crimes, namely, murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and stealing of vehicles were recorded.
The number was 8.66 percent less than in 2021 which saw the commission of 3,047 crime incidents.

“I commend all unit commanders for their efficient leadership and personnel’s commitment in successfully reducing crime incidents in their respective areas of responsibility,” said Brigadier General Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director, in a statement.
The island province of Guimaras recorded the least number of the major crimes with only 71 incidents.
The province of Antique had the second least number of major crimes with 151.
There were 209 major crimes in Aklan province; 257 in Bacolod City; 382 in Iloilo City; 389 in Capiz province; 624 in Iloilo province; and 700 in Negros Occidental province.
“The significant reduction of crimes across the region can be attributed to the regular conduct of enhanced managing police operations as well as the active support of local government units, barangay officials, force multipliers, the advocacy support groups,” added Major Grace Socorro Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson.
