Grab rider foils drug deal by Vietnamese in Makati City

A Grab delivery rider successfully foiled a drug transaction on Sunday, Jan. 1, after he reported to the Makati City Police that he was tasked by a Vietnamese national to deliver a package which turned out to be illegal drugs.

According to the police report, the rider received a delivery booking from two Vietnamese nationals at Lerato Tower on Malugay St. Barangay Bel Air. Upon receiving the parcel, he asked the foreigners what are the contents of the package which they just ignored.

This led to the rider checking the contents of the parcel and found out that it contains illegal drugs.

The Grab rider immediately went to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Office of Makati City Police Station (SIDMS) and reported the incident.

At 8:05 a.m. of the same day, the operatives held an entrapment operation against the receiver of the parcel in front of Island Tower Condominium located in Salcedo St. corner Benavidez St., Brgy. San Lorenzo.

The police identified the suspect as Nguyen Luong Hai, 30 years old, a Vietnamese.

Recovered from the suspect were a red eco-bag containing a box of face masks together with one pack of cigarettes, one plastic containing shabu worth P6,800, and an Iphone XS Max.

A complaint for violation of Sec. 11, Art. II of R.A 9165 is being prepared against the arrested suspect who is presently detained at the Makati City Police Station.
