BI intercepts two alien 'fugitives' at NAIA

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Tuesday, Jan. 3, that it has intercepted two alleged foreign fugitives, one attempting to enter and another trying to fly out of the country, in separate operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said South Korean Yoon Suk Bae, 43, was subject of an Interpol notice and facing unspecified criminal charges before a court in his country.

Yoon was immediately barred from entering the country and sent back to Doha where he boarded a Qatar Airways flight to Manila.

Meanwhile, Antigula and Barbuda national Wang Lingling, 49, who attempted to depart to Tokyo via a Philippine Airlines flight, was intercepted by BI operatives on New Year’s Eve.

According to Tansingco, Wang is wanted in China for embezzlement charges before the Xuzhou municipal public bureau in 2017.

She was denied boarding and was transferred to the BI’s warden facility in Taguig City pending deportation.
