The Commission on Elections (Comelec) once again urged eligible Filipinos to register for them to participate in this year’s Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Comelec Chairman George Garcia invited eligible individuals to file their application on or before the deadline of voters’ registration on Jan. 31.

"Muli po nating inaanyayahan ang ating mga kababayan na magparehistro upang makaboto (Once again, we invite our citizens to register so they can vote)," Garcia posted on his Twitter account on Sunday, Jan. 29.

"Matatapos na po ang voter registration sa Jan. 31, 2023 kaya magparehistro na po tayo (Voter registration will end on Jan. 31, 2023, register now)," he added.

Those eligible to register as regular/barangay voters are any Filipino citizen, at least 18 years of age on or before the barangay elections, a resident of the Philippines for at least one year, and six months in the place wherein he/she intends to vote immediately preceding the election; and not otherwise disqualified by law.

Meanwhile, individuals eligible to vote in SK elections are Filipino citizens at least 15 years old but not more than 30 years of age on or before election day, a resident for six months in the place wherein he/she intends to vote immediately preceding the election; and are not otherwise disqualified by the law.

The BSKE is scheduled to be held on Oct. 30, 2023.
