BLACKPINK performs at French charity concert; snaps photo with President Macron, first lady

K-pop group BLACKPINK performed at a charity concert organized by Brigitte Macron, the first lady of France.

The event, the Gala des Pièces Jaunes (Yellow Coins Gala), featured artists including BLACKPINK, Pharrell Williams and Kid Cudi.

The concert was held at Zenith Paris for the benefit of the Hospital Foundation chaired by the first lady. It was broadcast on Jan. 28.

Every year, the Hospital Foundation holds the Yellow Coins operation to improve the conditions of sick children. The foundation subsidizes numerous projects in French public hospitals every year.

BLACKPINK became the first K-pop artist to be invited to the annual event. They performed “Shut Down” and “Pink Venom.”

French-born cellist Gautier Capucon and violinist Daniel Lozakovich accompanied BLACKPINK in their performances.

Capucon and Lozakovich, who have visited South Korea before, are well-known among classic music fans in Korea, according to YG Entertainment.

“The proceeds from ticket sales for the event and all the funds raised for the concert will be donated to the French Hospital Foundation. BLACKPINK, who has tremendous influence around the world, is very welcome to join us at such a meaningful event," said Macron, according to YG Entertainment.

BLACKPINK had a photo with French President Emmanuel Macron and the first lady. Last December, the first lady watched BLACKPINK’s “Born Pink” concert at Accor Arena in Paris.
