Three drug pushers nabbed, P3-M worth of illegal drugs seized in separate buy-busts in C. Visayas


CEBU CITY – Shabu and dried marijuana leaves worth more than P3 million were seized in separate police operations on Friday, Jan. 27.

In Toledo City, a 45-year-old man identified as Edgar Mahinay Ypon yielded 142 grams of shabu worth P965,000 as police arrested him in a buy-bust operation.

Police said Ypon was listed as a high-value individual (HVI).

In Cebu City, a 27-year-old man was arrested after police caught him selling dried marijuana leaves to a poseur-buyer.

One kilo of marijuana leaves was seized from John Paul Labiste, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

A 33-year-old man considered an HVI was also arrested in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

He was identified as Alfonso Gultiano Luna who was handcuffed by elements of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office after transacting with a policeman who posed as buyer.

Police said 110 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P748,000 were seized from Luna, a resident of Barangay Bulacao-Pardo, Cebu City.

Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, said the series of arrests of drug personalities showed that the campaign against illegal drugs is unrelenting.

"Underscoring PRO-7’s performance in the campaign against illegal drugs in Central Visayas, our message has been consistently clear: drug players and dealers are not welcome here,” said Bearis.
