K-pop group TXT’s ‘The Name Chapter: Temptation’ sells 1.86 M copies on first day of release


K-pop boy band Tomorrow X Together (TXT)’s new album has sold more than 1.8 million copies on the first day of release.

TXT released “The Name Chapter: Temptation” on Jan. 27, their fifth mini-album containing five songs including the main track “Sugar Rush Ride.”

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “The Name Chapter: Temptation” sold 1,868,919 copies on the first day of release on Jan. 27 to top the daily physical album chart.

The album has an equivalent physical record index of 1,858,865.5 points, which is now being used by Hanteo Chart to rank albums by incorporating the album price.

The first day sales for “The Name Chapter: Temptation” are higher by 103 percent compared to TXT’s “Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child,” which sold 918,413 copies on the first day of release, or a difference of 950,506 copies.

According to Big Hit Music, TXT became the first K-pop group since BTS to record sales of more than 1.8 million copies on the first day of release of a new album, Korean media reported.

On iTunes, “The Name Chapter: Temptation” topped the Top Albums chart in 30 countries and regions as of 8 a.m. on Jan. 28 while “Sugar Rush Ride” grabbed the No. 1 in 17 countries and regions.

The music video for “Sugar Rush Ride” has garnered 14.4 million views as of 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 28, or about 20.5 hours since its release on Jan. 27.

Today, Jan. 28, TXT will hold a comeback show at the Korea International Exhibition Center (Kintex) in Ilsan, Gyeonggi province at 7 p.m. KST. The showcase will be held in person and online.
