More than 26 million Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards in the Philippines were already registered based on the latest tally issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
NTC’s data showed that a total of 26,277,933 cards in the Philippines have already been registered as of Friday, Jan. 27. Of this number, 13,429,530 are Smart Communications Inc. subscribers. Globe Telecom, on the other hand, reported 10,750,292 registrants, while Dito Telecommunity has recorded 2,098,111 registered SIM cards so far.

This latest tally, however, is only equivalent to 15.55 percent of the 168,977,773 existing cards in the country.
The mandatory and free registration will end on April 26, 2023. All active subscribers in the Philippines are required to comply with the law. Unregistered cards, as stressed by the NTC, will permanently be deactivated.
“Deactivated SIMs can no longer be used to avail mobile services such as voice calls, text, and data,” it furthered.
