LTO offers free driver's education course for new applicants in Pasay City

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is now offering a free 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) for applicants of a student permit in its Pasay City Licensing Center.

Roque I. Verzosa III, director of the LTO-National Capital Region West (NCR-West), said the free driving course was offered after its licensing center in Pasay City has reopened on Jan. 25, with Ma. Paquita DP. Dela Cruz, as its chief.

"The Driver's Education Center (DEC) is for novice or new drivers to learn the basics of safe driving, including the laws, rules, and regulations, so they can be trained to recognize risk and potential consequences whenever they are on the road," said Verzosa.

"It is open and will benefit all qualified student driver applicants who may not be financially capable of availing of the services of regular driving schools," he added.

Verzosa said the free course will be conducted every Thursday and Friday of each week, adding that those who want to avail of the service can apply or register using the form through this link:

He, however, reminded the applicants of the following:

1.) Booked appointments are non-transferable.

2.) Please provide an active email address. A confirmation email will be sent to the provided email address and will be used as proof of your booking before entering the office premises.

3.) The applicant must personally attend both sessions.

4.) There will be limited slots due to social distancing.

The offering of free driver's education, according to Verzosa, is part of the LTO's goal of road safe roads for motorists, commuters and the public and was ordered by LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Jose Antonio "Jay Art" Tugade.
