ZAMBOANGA CITY – A shootout between a gang led by one of the country’s most wanted persons and the police resulted in the death of his cohort in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-9 information officer, said the Zamboanga del Sur Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Midsalip Municipal Police Station were about to arrest the subject, Badles Domandes, when his group fired at lawmen.
The operating team engaged the gang in a running gun battle which lasted for about 20 minutes.
Gripon Alasa, a cohort of Domandes, was killed in the shootout while Domandes was able to elude arrest.
Domandes was listed by the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of National Defense as one of the country’s most wanted individuals.
Police recovered a Garand rifle with ammunition and conducting a manhunt for Domandes’ arrest.
