ILOILO CITY – Boracay earned P32.2 billion from 1.75 million domestic and foreign tourists who visited the world-famous resort-island in Malay, Aklan in 2022.

The Department of Tourism-Region 6 said Boracay had the biggest earning in May with P3.68 billion from more than 201,000 visitors. The month also had the most number of tourists in Boracay for the year.
Boracay posted the second biggest earning for the year the following month with P3.54 billion from more than 193,000 tourists.
It earned the least in January with P655 million from more than 80,000 tourists and when there still travel restrictions due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.
Aside from eased travel restrictions, tourism earnings went up due to the return of international flights at the Kalibo Airport in Kalibo, Aklan.
Direct flights enabled South Koreans, often regarded as Boracay’s No. 1 foreign tourists, to enjoy Boracay again. Last year, more than 50,000 South Koreans visited Boracay.
