Bedridden old woman dies in Quezon fire

ATIMONAN, Quezon – A bedridden elderly woman died in a fire that razed her house in Barangay Tagbakin here on Thursday night, Jan. 26.

Police identified the victim as Wendilena Imperial Fabros, widower.

She was alone at home when the fire broke out around 8:50 p.m.

The Atimonan Bureau of Fire Protection responded immediately but the fire spread quickly because some parts of the house were made of light materials.

Neighbors and bystanders helped put out the fire by hauling buckets of water from an adjacent gas station. The fire was and declared under control at 9:30 pm.

Authorities found the victim in her bed.

Damage to property was estimated at P1.5 million. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
