2 men wanted for defrauding woman in Isabela nabbed

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – The Philippine National Police-Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 2 arrested two men for allegedly defrauding a woman in Isabela of P370,000 in Calumpit, Bulacan on Monday, Jan. 23.

Suspects were identified as 34-year-old Julierey Palencia and Oliver San Diego, 41.

Police said the suspects accessed without authority and in a fraudulent manner the online banking account of the victim, causing her to lose P370,000.

Palencia is the PNP-RACU 2’s No. 1 most wanted person on the regional level while San Diego is the second MWP on the regional level.

Suspects were arrested on a warrant issued by Judge Reymundo L. Aumentado, presiding judge, Second Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court Branch 20, Cauayan City, Isabela dated Jan. 22, 2022.

They face cases for violation of Section 9 (s), Republic Act 8484, An act regulating the issuance and use of access devices, prohibiting fraudulent acts committed relative thereto, providing penalties and for other purposes, as amended in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175, An act defining cybercrime, providing for the prevention, investigation, suppression and the imposition of penalties therefor and for other purposes.

The court recommended P140,000 bail each for the suspects. San Diego is under the custody of the Cauayan City Police Station. Palencia was able to post bail for while awaiting the court’s resolution on the case.

RACU 2 chief Lt. Col. Christopher Luyon lauded the capture of the suspects and assured the arrest of wanted persons within their area of responsibility.
