LAGUNA -- An alleged illegal recruiter who victimized three applicants by offering them seafarer jobs in exchange for P150,000 each was arrested in an entrapment operation in Lumban town on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Laguna Police Provincial director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio identified the suspect as a certain Idan, a resident of Lumban town.
Police Major Ruffy Taduyo, chief of Lumban police, said that three victims filed complaints against the suspect for recruiting them as seafarers in exchange for P150,000 each.
Upon making a coordination with the Department of Migrant Workers, the Lumban police found out that Idan is an illegal recruiter.
Thereafter, the Lumban police conducted an entrapment operation at around 3:30 p.m. which led to the arrest of the suspect while accepting the marked money amounting to P7,500 from the victims.
The suspect is now under police custody while charges in violation of R.A 10022, also known as Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995, were being readied.
