Confident Danny Kingad believes experience will be difference against Eko Roni Saputra

Third-ranked flyweight contender Danny “The King” Kingad is confident about his upcoming match against Eko Roni Saputra despite the Indonesian coming in hot.

Kingad and Saputra will tangle in a three-round flyweight MMA bout at ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II on Feb. 25 at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. 

Saputra is coming in riding a seven-fight winning streak, with all of those wins happening by finishes. The Filipino, however, isn’t impressed.

“I think he’s not in the top five yet, and I really don’t know if he deserves to be in the top-five rankings. But, I’m ready for him. Let’s see this February 25,” he said.

Given Saputra’s activity inside the Circle, the Team Lakay star believes he’s already got him scouted. In fact, he expects the Indonesian to rely on his strong wrestling but come up short with everything else.

“The King” plans to use a wait-and-see approach when he takes on Saputra, knowing that he’s ready for whatever the Evolve MMA representative throws at him.

“Preventing his attack will depend on my game plan. Once we’re inside the ring, it depends on what attack I’ll use against him. When I watched his fights, I saw that he uses his wrestling a lot and he spends time on the ground a lot,” he said.

“I think I can match him up with .”

That confidence stems from that fact that Kingad has been battling it out with the best flyweights since joining ONE in 2016.

On his resume, he has wins over Yuya Wakamatsu, Reece McLaren, and Tatsumitsu Wada.

He’s also had the luxury of facing current ONE Flyweight World Champion Demetrious Johnson, and former champs like Adriano Moraes and Kairat Akhmetov.

That’s why he feels that Saputra won’t show anything surprising in this match.

“Experience-wise, I think I have the advantage. And I said, he hasn’t fought anyone who’s the same level as those I’ve fought before,” he said.

“I think his toughest opponent was Fairtex, and he’s not even that good. He got Yodkaikaew on the ground game, too. That’s the only fighter I think that he’s fought that’s probably a bit better than his previous opponents.”
