Bulacan cops mark National Day of Remembrance for SAF 44

The Bulacan Police Provincial Office held a ceremony for the National Day of Remembrance for the 44 fallen members of the Special Action Force (SAF) at Camp General Alejo Santos in the City of Malolos, Bulacan, on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

The event was themed "Legacy of Heroes: Inspiration for Future Generations."

Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan police director, led the wreath-laying ceremony for the fallen heroes. He was joined by Rey Kibete, brother of the late Police Officer 3 (PO3) Junrel Kibete.

P03 Kibete, a native of the City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, was one of the 44 SAF members who neutralized Malaysian terrorist and bomb maker Zulkifli Bin Hir, alias Marwan, in Barangay Tukanalipao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao on Jan. 25, 2015.

In his message, Arnedo urged his men to never forget the fallen SAF 44's extraordinary display of courage and patriotism during the anti-terrorist operation in Mamasapano.

A message from Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. was also conveyed during the ceremony.

In 2017, former President Rordrigo Duterte declared Jan. 25 as the National Day of Remembrance for the fallen SAF 44 under Proclamation No. 164 to commemorate their heroic sacrifice.
