Six Mrs. Universe Queens off to compete in Sofia, Bulgaria

They're all beautiful, empowered, and most of all, accomplished women who are also loving mothers. That's why they have been chosen to represent the country at the 45th Mrs. Universe Pageant which will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria on Feb. 4.

Actress-singer Charo Laude, CEO and National Director of Mrs. Universe Philippines Foundation, expressed hopes that the six candidates have what it takes to compete and be the best among more than a hundred equally stunning mothers from all over the world. The contestants will fly to Bulgaria in batches starting Jan. 24.

Charo, who was Mrs. Universe Philippines 2019-2020 and Top 18 finalist of the international pageant in 2019, noted that "we have a very strong batch" and one of them could bring home the crown which has so far eluded the Philippines since its participation.

Mrs. Universe is described as an annual international pageant open to matured women who are either married, divorced, widowed or are single moms. They must be outstanding in their career and committed to a significant cause in the community they live in.

The six representatives from the Philippines are the following:

  • Mrs Universe Philippines 2022 Veronica Yu is an active Rotarian, firefighter and vice-chair of the family-owned ICITY Technologies Inc. She is a philanthropist who has put her culinary degree to good use by organizing feeding drives as well as donating gadgets and vehicles for the youth.
  • Mrs Universe Philippines Northeast Asia 2022 Lady Chatterly Alvaro is a Lieutenant Commander of the Philippine Navy assigned to the Presidential Security Group. As a soldier, she said she is committed to the protection of the rights of women and children.
  • Mrs Universe Philippines West Pacific Asia 2022 Jeanie Jarina is an architect by profession and CEO of Techno Fab Steel, her company which manufactures and fabricates stainless steel products. She's proud to be in a male-dominated industry and joined the pageant to serve as an example to her two daughters who like to be beauty queens one day.
  • Mrs Universe Philippines North Pacific Asia 2022 Gines Angeles is a young entrepreneur who has her own network of aesthetic clinics. She wants to inspire other single mothers like her to relax and take time to pamper themselves "because it pays to be beautiful."
  • Mrs Universe Philippines Continental Asia 2022 Michelle Solinap is a mother to three boys which includes 25-year old GMA Network star Paul Salas. She is an events organizer who joined the pageant because she had her first child at 16 and now wants to experience and enjoy what life has to offer.
  • Mrs Universe Philippines Pacific Continental 2022 Virginia Evangelista is a dentist by profession who is committed to developing herself so she can also help others be the best version of themselves.
