SIM card registration breaches 24M


There are now more than 24 million registered Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards in the Philippines.

The National Telecommunications Commission disclosed that the number of registered SIM cards in the country has breached 24 million.

Based on the data as of Jan. 22, Smart Communications Inc. has reported 12,167,220 registrants. This was followed by Globe Telecom with 9,988,656 and Dito Telecommunity with 1,964,665 registered cards so far.

The total number of registered SIMs in the country is 24,120,541. This is equivalent to only 14.27 percent of the 168,977,773 existing cards in the Philippines.

The mandatory registration began on Dec. 27, 2022. It will run until April 26, 2023 according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). SIM cards that will not be registered on time will permanently be deactivated.
