The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded a 5.9-magnitude earthquake offshore of Davao Occidental on Tuesday morning, Jan. 24.
Phivolcs said the quake struck 303 kilometers (km) southeast of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental at 10:13 a.m.
It noted that it was an aftershock of the 7.0-magnitude offshore quake on Jan. 18.
However, no intensity was recorded because the 5.9-magnitude earthquake may not have been felt.
Phivolcs said it does not expect damage or aftershocks because of this earthquake.
