On this year’s celebration of the International Day of Education, the Department of Education (DepEd) highlighted the country’s goal of achieving inclusive and equitable quality learning.
The event is annually celebrated on Jan. 24 to underscore the role of education for peace and development.
“This year’s theme ‘To Invest in People, Prioritize Education’ affirms that the new administration is on the right track,” said Vice President and Education Chief Sara Z. Duterte during the event, adding that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos previously disclosed the administration’s “commitment” to recover the learning losses caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apart from that, the President, according to Duterte, is committed to “rebuilding” the Philippine education system by making it “inclusive, relevant, and resilient.”
“Let us work together to ensure that our education system empowers our young people to navigate lives, challenges with 21st century skills, resilience, leadership and strength of character as they join us in reshaping and rebuilding a better and stronger Philippines,” Duterte added.
IDE 2023, as pointed out by DepEd, seeks to “generate visibility from local to global level on prioritizing education.”
