Bautista: Planned NAIA privatization only covers operations, assets remain under gov't
The planned privatization of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) would only be on the operation and maintenance and not its assets, Department of Transportation (DoTR) Secretary Jaime Bautista clarified on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Bautista issued the clarification amid the perceived conflicting statements between the DOTr and Malacañang on the planned NAIA privatization.
"What will be privatized is the operation, all the assets under the NAIA remain under the government," said Bautista.
He then cited the case of the Clark International Airport and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport as an example.
Bautista also assured the public that if the plan pushes through, there will be no increase in all fees.
