'That's axiomatic': Marcos shrugs off critics of his foreign trips
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday shrugged off criticisms of his successive foreign trips as he said it is a matter that could stand scrutiny.
Reacting to those who are criticizing him for the cost of his numerous trips abroad, Marcos only said: "There will be accountability and transparency in everything that we do. That's axiomatic."
In fact, he added, "it has not been an issue" of the investors who he is trying to woo.
"They bring up ease of doing business. They bring up the cost of energy. They bring up the problems of legislative guarantees," he said in a media interview.
"So the critics will have their say. But those who are actually contemplating putting good money into the Philippines have other issues. And that's not accountability and transparency is not an issue." he added.
Marcos then justified his successive foreign trips as he said it is crucial for heads of state like him to meet with global partners, especially since he is "the new kid in town."
"In my case, because I'm the new kid in town right? So it's to meet people and say, magpakilala (to introduce myself)," he said.
