Kick-start your active journey with this ‘movewear’ collection

‘Moving every day is good for you, but it also has a bigger power’

A new year is more than just welcoming a new chapter in life. It is a moment when the entire people around the globe are in unison when it comes to reinventing themselves. Whether it is about breaking a routine or creating a new one, the goal is to make ourselves better in all aspects of life. For some, change begins with fitness. These days, being active isn’t just about physical well-being, it is also about conditioning the mind—moving can also be a way for self-expression.

Pieces from H&M Move's "Empower Collection"

That is the core of Swedish fashion label H&M as it launches its newest line of stylish and functional movewear, dubbed “Empower Collection,” to support its wearers however they move. Joining the brand on its mission are its global brand movers: actress Jane Fonda, football player Zlatan Ibrahimović, choreographer JaQuel Knight, and its newest face Afghan-Danish refugee turned football player and medical doctor Nadia Nadim.

“Moving every day is good for you, but it also has a bigger power,” Nadim says. “So, it is not just about being active because it’s healthy but also because sports and movement can change other things around you.”

“Bringing all four brand movers together for this campaign feels very special,” Simon Brown, general manager of H&M move, says. “We all share the same mission to get the whole world move and everybody moving. Showing our brand movers having fun in our new ‘Empower Collection’ we hope will inspire others to join us in starting the new year and trying new ways to move.”

Much like its past releases, the new movewear collection features the brand’s latest clothing innovations. It features seamless products made with DryMove, a material that pulls moisture away from the skin to keep wearers dry and comfortable. As a fashion touch, some of the pieces come in vibrant orange and cobalt blue to give the active 'fits pops of color.

During its launch here in the Philippines, Manila Bulletin Lifestyle got the chance to put its movewear pieces in motion through an indoor cycling class led by Ironman-certified coach Vanessa Agdon. Joining a spin class for the first time may seem daunting—and intimidating. But unlike other workout routines, indoor cycling also plays with your imagination, which makes it fun. We get to envision situations like going up a hill or riding through different terrains. The movewear pieces also did their job in supporting us through the session, upholding their promise of keeping moisture at bay and making us feel comfortable as we “put the pedal to the metal.”
